OBJECTS
The objects for which the Foundation is established are:-
(1) To provide assistance and financial support to those who are in need or are suffering hardship.
(2) To organise, support, promote and engage in works and activities for the purposes of assisting the underprivileged, aged, socially disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in the community.
(3) To relieve the poor and needy who by reason of age, ill-health, misfortune or infirmity are wholly or in part unable to maintain themselves or otherwise require assistance.
(4) To relieve victims of fire, flood, famine, war, typhoon and other calamities.
(5) To award grants, scholarships, bursaries, sponsorships, prizes, rewards and other forms of assistance for educational, academic and scientific research purposes generally.
(6) To establish, maintain, operate and manage non-profit making schools and educational institutions at any place whether within Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China or elsewhere.
(7) To carry out publicity campaigns, publish newspapers, leaflets, journals, periodicals, books and other educational publications in furtherance of the objects of the Foundation.
(8) To appeal for, apply for, invite, receive and accept donations, gifts, grants and bequests of property, contributions and financial support of all kinds in furtherance of the objects of the Foundation.
(9) To promote and participate in programmes, projects and activities in collaboration with governmental bodies, educational and research institutions, industrial and commercial organizations whether within Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China or elsewhere in furtherance of the objects of the Foundation.
(10) To undertake and discharge the office and duties of trustee, with or without undertaking, the management and administration of any trust or settlement which may be considered necessary for or incidental to the furtherance of the objects of the Foundation or any of them.
(11) To take any gift of property, whether subject to any special trust or not, in furtherance of the objects of the Foundation.
(12) To purchase or otherwise acquire and undertake all or any part of the properties and assets of any one or more of the companies, institutions, societies or associations with which this Foundation is authorised to amalgamate provided that those bodies should prohibit the distribution of their income and property among their members to an extent at least as great as is imposed on this Foundation under and by virtue of the FOURTH clause hereof.
(13) To transfer all or any part of the properties, assets, liabilities and engagements of this Foundation to any one or more of the charitable companies, institutions, societies or associations with which this Foundation is authorized to amalgamate provided that those bodies should prohibit the distribution of their income and property among their members to an extent at least as great as is imposed on this Foundation under and by virtue of the FOURTH clause hereof.
(14) To raise money by subscription or other lawful means in furtherance of the objects or any of the objects herein provided.
(15) To invest and deal with the moneys of the Foundation not immediately required, upon such investments and securities and in such reasonable and prudent manner allowed by law as may from time to time be determined.
(16) Subject to the proviso contained in sub-clause
(17) hereof to subscribe to any local or other charities, and to grant donations for any charitable purpose, and subject to the FOURTH clause hereof, to provide a superannuation fund for the employees of the Foundation, or otherwise to assist any such employees and their dependents.
(18) To establish and support, and to aid in the establishment and support of, any other body, association or organization formed for all or any of the objects of this Foundation Provided That none of the funds of this Foundation shall be paid to any other body, association or organization which does not prohibit the distribution of its income and property among its members to an extent at least as great as is imposed on this Foundation under and by virtue of the FOURTH clause hereof.
(19) To co-operate and act in conjunction with other bodies, associations or organizations (whether incorporated or unincorporated), trusts or foundations having objects similar to the objects of the Foundation, with governments and with national and international organizations concerned in any way with the objects of the Foundation, to provide opportunities and facilities for the co-ordination and development of such co-operation.
(20) To enter into, make, perform and carry out contracts or arrangements of every sort and kind for the furtherance of the objects of the Foundation with any person, firm, association, corporation, body or government authority and to obtain therefrom any rights, privileges and concessions which the Foundation may think it desirable to obtain and in this connection and in all transactions under the terms of the Foundation to do any and all things which a co-partnership or natural person could do or exercise, and which now or hereafter maybe authorized by law.
(21) To amalgamate with any body, association, organization, institution or society having objects altogether similar to those of this Foundation and which prohibits the distribution of its income and property among its members to an extent at least as great as is imposed on this Foundation under and by virtue of the FOURTH clause hereof.
